Frequently Asked Questions
I understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming. Below are some common questions and answers to help guide you before your first appointment.

-
Do you offer in-person sessions?Currently, all sessions at Riding the Rainbow are conducted virtually, allowing you to access and engage in therapy sessions from the comfort of your own space.
-
What is Parts Work Therapy?Parts Work, also known as Ego State Therapy, helps individuals identify and work through different parts or aspects of their personality that may be in conflict due to trauma. This approach is often used alongside EMDR for a more holistic healing process.
-
What is EMDR Therapy?EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of therapy used to help clients process and heal from traumatic experiences. It focuses on reducing the emotional impact of memories related to trauma, allowing you to move forward with less emotional distress.
-
How do I schedule an appointment? To schedule an appointment, first book a 15-minute intro call with Susan.
-
How long will therapy last? The length of therapy varies, and some clients may only need a few sessions, while others may be in therapy for years. Generally speaking, the more you put into therapy (during sessions and in between sessions) the faster you will feel better and as you meet your goals-the answer to this question will be clearer to you.
-
How do I know if the therapist is right for me?Of course, you want to be confident that a therapist has the training and expertise to address your reasons for coming to therapy in the first place. Sometimes you have to be face to face with me for a couple of sessions to get a “feel” for my personality to know if you are comfortable. I encourage you to talk to me about any ongoing reservations or concerns you might have.
-
Do you take insurance or only private pay?I do not take insurance, but please reach out to me at contact@resilientrainbowtherapy.com to discuss further. I believe in therapy being accessible to everyone.
-
How often will I see you?I see individual clients once per week in the beginning of therapy. Seeing me allows for the work to move along at a good pace. We will discuss this when we meet for the intake assessment. It depends on what makes sense for your goals and your processing style.
